Laserpecker 5 vs xTool F1 Ultra: A Cost Controller's Honest Breakdown

I'm a procurement manager at a 26-person metal fabrication company. I've managed our subcontracted engraving and finishing budget—about $46,000 a year—for five years, negotiated with more than 20 vendors, and tracked every order in our cost system.   • Choose the Laserpecker 5 if you're mostly doing flat wood, leather, or acrylic, you value portability, and your phone is your primary workflow.

Don't buy the F1 Ultra because it's more expensive and 'premium.' Buy it because it solves metal marking, rotary work, and production repeatability. And don't skip the Laserpecker 5 because it's smaller or cheaper. Those are legitimate variables. The problem is when none of your variables include cost per good part.

The best laser engraver is the one that makes your next job easier and your finance spreadsheet no worse.

I have mixed feelings about recommending xTool so enthusiastically. I don't like monoculture in tooling. But as of January 2025, the xTool F1 Ultra is the one that earned its spot on our floor.
